INSPECT
When considering taking a vacation there are a lot of things that go into the planning phase as far as time, budget, how many people will be going, and then activities. Sometimes it seems to be so far out of reach that you just stop planning and put if off to a more economical time. Lets be honest, vacationing is all about how much money you are willing to spend to be happy. At the end of it all, can you spend the money and feel it was totally worth it, or you spend the money and wish you would have made a different decision, because you feel just as stressed as before you went. Did you know mentally you can make any trip worthwhile at any cost. There are things you can do to insure you have a good time, be happy that you did it, and also still be able to buy groceries at the end of it.
TELESCOPE
First lets change your way of thinking. What is your idea of a vacation. Is it a sunny beach with cocktails and umbrella. Is it climbing Mount Everest, or Skiing down the slopes in Squaw Valley. Is it taking a moon lite Gondola ride with the person you love, or a family cruise with Disney. Let's bare minimal take a look at the mere definition of a vacation. Which is an extended period of leisure and recreation especially one sent away from home or in traveling, or the action of leaving something one previously occupied Google.com. I would like to take one part of the definition and make it much bigger, and that is the "Leaving of something." The frame of mind should be to leave something. Now that I've given you the beginning of a mind shift, I am also going to break it down even further. Let me give you this nugget that you may have never considered. The "Something" is the most important part of the process. Believe it, we all go threw the process of what the idea of vacation is based on the experience and what we have been fed from life. All those things I named before are just a few of the most popular ideas I've read and researched on what makes people happy when they consider vacations. I then had to take down the walls of popular beliefs and develop my own.
WHATS YOUR SOMETHING
The "Something" is the thing you have to let go of in order to free your mind. For example mine would start at, I'm going to take off from work and sit still. Let's be honest, we have to work to be able to provide. That is the purpose, to provide for the basic necessities for our families and if you are single, for yourself. This is the only requirement. We also work to flex our brilliant minds in the field, which we also get joy from, but giving the mind and body rest is essential in order to reboot and continue to be great. Not that we totally forget our responsibilities to be productive members of society, its just the need for the body to rest every now and then to give life a better version of ourselves then we were the day before. That being said, your something is totally up to what you believe it is. What is it that you need to do to walk away from the day to day, and come back refreshed.
WHAT IS THE POINT
INSPECT your idea of Vacation. Your "Something" frame of mind may need some adjustment. When I say vacation on a budget, that simply means a dime doesnt have to be spent before you acknowledge what the thing is you need the break from. A vacation for you could be sitting on your patio sipping coffee, allowing the FREE wind to blow in your hair. It could be taking your family on a drive to the a park that is a little further then everyone is use to, just to establish the feeling of getting away. Let me be clear there is nothing wrong with taking an extravagant vacation to Disney, or the other exciting popular destinations. I definitely believe in rewarding yourself and your family for everyones hard work, or just because you want to. The point is that when you have in mind what a vacation should be, it should be something you can live with, and definitely don't have the burden of recovery from.
